Welcome to the Low Country, you came to the right place! Bluffton is approximately 54 square miles located in Beaufort County, South Carolina. Bluffton is Exit 8 on 95 (coming southbound) to 278 Fording Island road towards Hilton Head. Bluffton sits between May River and Colleton River where plenty of fishing, boating and water sports prevail. Hilton Head is our neighboring town to the East. Bluffton is a historic town and founded in 1852. It has grown expedientially since 2010 and now has over 25,500 residence in 2020, according to the census, Bluffton is among the fastest growing towns in South Carolina.
You will find rivers, live Oaks with hanging moss creating a canopy of shade. Palm Trees, Crepe Myrtles, among other beautiful deciduous trees and flowers. The Low Country is known for protecting our nesting Sea Turtles, but you will find all types of large Egrets and various wildlife in our marsh lands, along with the alligators. Our Old Town Bluffton has some historic homes such as The Heyward House and Church of The Cross. Many tourists come to get photographs up on the Bluff overlooking the May River. On Calhoun Street, you will find shopping and restaurants in old homes that are converted to keep the old town charm. There are special events such as parades and festivals through out the year (not during Covid-19) Thursdays are Market Day, the street gets closed off, local farmers and talented artists bring their merchandise for sale. We have two public high schools, Bluffton High School and May River High School. There are private schools as well, such as Hilton Head Christian Academy, St. Gregory the Great, Church of the Cross and The Montessori School are all in Bluffton.
